A rise in popularity

My email address has gotten out beyond the bubble of safety known as my address book. This probably started when my friend who has a PC included me in some huge mailing regarding a Parelli event, and one of her recipients added me to their diseased address book in hopes of sending me notices of Natural horsemanship events taking place in my area.

Email from last week:

From: Aaron Frye - Subject: circumstantial blurry deceitful
From: Lucia Fish - Subject: bates deceive collard
From: Glenn C. James - Subject: Bigger
From: Aron Hardy - Subject: cutlet deuce clove
From: Stefanie Rivera - Subject: bellboy banach anecdote
From: Henrietta Petty - Subject: aside brunch clam

Here is a short blurb composed from the subject lines of the now deleted emails:

Aside from trying to kill his lordship, the deceitful bellboy and his blurry eyed clam cooker Bates decided that brunch consisting of collard, clove, and cutlet would be the appropriate culinary anecdote in avoiding circumstantial evidence brought on by the bigger deuce of the court.

Changing horses?

Nine days ago I placed an online order for this great sunblock called Anthelios L. I buy it from a Canadian pharmacy website called Feelbest I can't understand why this product is taking so long to ship except to blame it on their version of pony express, except there is nothing express about it. Perhaps they made a stop somewhere in Saskatoon to change horses?

Anyway, Anthelios L is expensive, but it has this ingredient MEXORYL ® SX in a 3.3% formula, which is one of the better broad spectrum UV blockers. It also contains PARSOL® 1789 which you can find in certain Neutragena sunblock products. A dermatologist once told me to look for Parsol as an ingredient in sunblock due to its broad spectrum UV blocking. Since that time though Mexoryl has come out.

Recently Anthelios started selling a moisturizer in the U.S. with Mexoryl in it, but I don't think it contains the same quantity as the Canadian product. Par for the course that our government wouldn't put the same ingredients in products shipping to the U.S. because that would be giving too much of a damn about our health and well being- and that's not what they're about.

I can just hear the FDA arguments.. "it's not safe." Fuckers. Meanwhile, Canadians have been using it for a long time and It has been used in France even longer!

Another benefit to Anthelios L is that seems to be a decent gnat repellent.

Sour grape and whine

This post dedicated to those of you who have co-workers who can't seem to keep out of your personal business and then try to start trouble. Not a big deal really, just someone who has nothing better to do than to bitch and whine about things. I put the kibosh on it the other day. Looser.

This post inspired by Raymi's photo of a guy in shorts, yellow crocs, and leather jacket.

wouldn't it be fun to have a small camera at work in order to be able to capture the fashion faut-pas that come strolling through the door? Oh I could def. have fun with that, but then I'd get fired. So just try to use your imagination.. I will help you get started with the first fashion victim: Female, 60's, New Yorker but living in Florida, tan, wrinkled, lots of gold chains, white shorts, LOW CUT bathing suit and unbuttoned "cover up" shirt... or worse -and I have seen the dark side- NO cover up. Gag. Hahahahahahahaha. Maybe she thought she was too sexy for her shirt. Yes it was so sexy it hurt. ME. I am scarred forever.

Rain at last

A pretty good thunderstorm came through this afternoon while I was at the stables. I had taken Aristoitle inside and groomed him while waiting out the rain. Finally the storm passed and I took him back out to graze. He is looking okay considering his easy, pasture pet lifestyle. I know his muscle tone leaves a lot to be desired- but then again he does have an easy life. He finally has shed out his winter coat and he looks sleek and shiny again.

Culinary extravaganza--not.

We went out to dinner tonight. Mexican theme restaurant located in a shopping community = boring. One rung above having strip-mall ambiance. When it comes to dining out around here we have lots of choices if you like going to theme restaurants... No complaints though, as much as I'd love to live out in the countryside I know I'd have NO restaurants there.

After our sumptuous repast we strolled around the shopping centre, and watched as speeding (drunk) drivers left their own theme restaurant & bar.

Since I haven't posted many too many of my photographs lately I thought I'd post this one. I took it near the stables. This is an International truck. I don't know its year, but it has definitely been rotting in the woods a long time.

Trouble?

I dreamed of snakes last night. I was in the lobby of a modern office building that had granite floors and walls, and the snakes kept coming out from under doorways, slithering along the cracks where the walls and floors join. Many of them were long Rat snakes, like the one I saw and had to move out from the barn last week. Then I saw short beige snakes that had front legs so their movement was a combination of a slither and a walk. I had a broom and was sliding the snakes across the smooth floor trying to get them outside but as soon as I got one out there would be two more I had to catch and sweep up.

This website tells me that dreaming of snakes means the following: "This symbolizes evil. As in the original sin, this is a harbinger of trouble."

When..

When it comes to arranging eggplant and bags of salad- I simply kick ass.

I Thought I'd share that with you.

Drugged???

I feel as though someone has injected me with a sleep inducing, muscle relaxing drug. I woke up this A.M. around 8:30 and was told that I looked tired and should go back to bed, but it was so pretty this morning that I thought I should stay awake and enjoy the outdoors - especially since it is my day off. I lasted all of two hours- even with a cup of coffee. I went back to sleep and slept and slept. Exciting, I know.
Later in the afternoon when I awoke from my sleep stupor I picked up my fluffy, clean, pup from the vet after he had his bath and spa treatment and I went back to sleep AGAIN! Is this day of narcolepsy or something??

I nearly went in to work tonight because I have a bunch of candy coming in, and I want it distributed equally amongst all the displays... but I decided against it. Hopefully my peeps will take care of everything for me...hopefully.

I've been buying a different chocolate bar every few evenings so that I can sample the various items that I order. A few of the candy bars sell so well that I had to find out for myself, and I agree.. they're yummy.

Workin' in a coal mine goin' down, down, down

Not long ago I was given the responsibility of placing the order for the candies we carry in our store. Each check out area has a set of shelves with chocolate bars, etc. and I'm trying to organize all the displays so that they each have the same products. Sounds easy, but when I am off for a few nights things tend to get mixed up and messy because other people don't take as much time putting candies in their proper place. It's kind of like building sand castles too close to the water's edge... minus the sand and water, if you catch my drift.

So because I've been such a good, hard worker (in my humble opinion), staying late and organizing candy displays I have decided to treat myself to a present. The non equestrian readers won't be too excited by this.. and, well, maybe some of you equestrian types won't be either.
So what.
My blog.
My stirrups.
I recently ordered these MDC Ultimate stirrups. They have a swiveling top portion that the leathers feed through. This swivel top enables the stirrups to hang at 45 or 90 degree angles instead of flat against the horses' side. These stirrups also have a safety hinging mechanism at the bottom so that the foot will be released if a rider were to fall off the horse. I chose the black ones to match my black saddle and leathers. Feast your eyes:

My other recent purchase for the saddle is the addition of a few shims for my Theraflex saddle pad. Aristoitle is lacking muscle tone on his back, and I want to be sure that the saddle isn't bridging his back anyplace.

That's it for this installment of Fun in Flatland. Next time you are in the check out aisle of your local market, remember there is a person who tries to keep all the candy organized and well presented- so if you are changing your mind about buying that Toblerone chocolate bar put it back in the right spot for crissakes... you never know.. I could be watching you.

The day went something like this...

Went to bed at 3:00 AM, woke up at 9:30 AM, went to Dr. to have my sore throat checked and cultured. Went to an undisclosed location for M's B-day present, got some lunch, and then spent 4 hours with Aristoitle. The best part of the day was the 4 hours with Aristoitle. .. oh, and finding out that I don't have strep.

I saw one of my art teachers on t.v. tonight.. way to go P! He is the kind of teacher that's there when you need him, but otherwise lets you do what you want as long as he sees you're not a flake. I had the best time in his classes.

My pup gets his stitches removed from his paw tomorrow morning. His foot has healed up very nicely and one can tell that he feels good all over because he is bright eyed and smiley again.

I have realized that I spend WAAAAYYY too much time on the Internet reading other peoples blogs and surfing. Time to clean up around here... my office looks like its been ransacked.

Bought a book on sketching

I recently bought a 'learn to sketch' book referred by an artist whose drawings I like, thinking that I would like the other artist's sketches as well. Boy was I wrong. I don't like this other guy's work at all! This was an Internet buy, so I wasn't able to check it out in the same way one can look thru books in Amazon- even though it was a 3rd party buy through Amazon. Just sharing my disappointment.
